LIM and senescent cell antigen-like-containing domain protein 1
LIMS1 (LIM and senescent cell antigen-like-containing domain protein 1) is a 325-amino-acid cytoskeletal adaptor protein that functions within the IPP (ILK-PINCH-PARVIN) complex to promote F-actin bundling and regulate actin cytoskeleton dynamics (UniProt: P48059). This activity is essential for force generation during cell adhesion, spreading, and migration. The protein is expressed in human tissues and has no documented monogenic disease associations in the UniProt database.
LIMS1 was detected across subcellular fractions in a quantitative proteomics study of post-mortem Alzheimer's disease brain tissue. The protein shows increased abundance in AD brains compared to age-matched controls, with a mean log2 fold-change of 0.48 (Chaparral AD proteomics). This upregulation was observed in one of four subcellular fractions examined in the TMT-labeled differential analysis, suggesting region- or compartment-specific elevation in the disease state. The biological significance of increased LIMS1 in AD pathology remains to be determined.
