protein
Sister chromatid cohesion protein PDS5 homolog B
PDS5B (sister chromatid cohesion protein PDS5 homolog B) is a regulator of sister chromatid cohesion during mitosis that stabilizes cohesin complex association with chromatin and couples cohesion to DNA replication (UniProt: Q9NTI5). The protein plays roles in accurate chromosome partitioning and DNA repair, and has been implicated in androgen-induced proliferative arrest in prostate cells.
PDS5B is primarily involved in cell-cycle regulation and mitotic processes. No specific tissue distributions or non-AD disease associations are documented in UniProt records for this protein.
In Alzheimer's disease, PDS5B is downregulated in post-mortem AD brain tissue compared to age-matched controls (Chaparral AD proteomics), with a mean log2 fold-change of −1.11 in a single subcellular fraction from TMT-labeled quantitative proteomics. The functional significance of reduced PDS5B expression in AD pathology remains unclear but may reflect altered cell-cycle dynamics or impaired DNA repair capacity in affected neurons.
